We picked up a great pamphlet at the veterinarian’s office called 101 Things You Didn’t Know Could Harm Your Pet.  We found some eye opening items and I wanted to share some of the foods they listed that can be harmful to dogs and cats.   The foods listed are avocados, chocolate, coffee, onions, garlic, grapes, raisins, macadamia nuts, alcoholic beverages, moldy/spoiled foods, salt, fatty foods, gum and candies sweetened with xylitol, tea leaves and raw yeast dough.

The other categories covered are Household Items, Plants, Objects, Trouble Areas, Outside, and then finally Holiday Hazards.  These areas have nearly the same guidelines as when you are childproofing your home for babies and toddlers.  If you are interested in more information on these topics you can visit www.aspca.org   This website also provides information on pet care, homeless pets, pet adoption etc.

Please feel free to share any additional information with other readers through the comment section.
